O Allah, today is the day our master Husain (AS) arrived at the plains of Karbala — arriving with full knowledge of what awaited him, patient, and resigned to Your command, O Lord of the Worlds. O my God, when Imam Husain was asked the name of this land and was told it was called Karbala, he wept and said: 'This is the land of karb (sorrow) and bala (affliction).' Then he dismounted, embraced its earth and said: 'O Allah, this is our resting place, our stopping point, our place of repose.' O Allah, fill our hearts with love for the sacred land of Karbala. Bless us with the ability to visit it, and intercede for us through its earth that cradled the pure blood of the Imam. O Allah, Husain came to Karbala holding aloft the banner of truth, and through his sacrifice he bequeathed to us a legacy of dignity and refusal to submit to wrong that cannot be touched. O Allah, preserve in our hearts our love for him and our loyalty to him, and make us among those who live and die upon the love of the family of Muhammad. O Allah, as Husain surrendered his affairs to You in Karbala, teach us surrender to Your decree and patience under Your qadar. And bless, O Allah, Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
