Recited aloud by the pesh imam at the start of the funeral prayer, with the Kalemah Tayyebah repeated between the Qur'anic passages

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, He alone, with no partner. I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. I bear witness that our Master Ali is his successor and minister. 'Give glad tidings to those who are patient — those who, when afflicted with a calamity, say: Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. Upon these are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and these are the rightly guided.' (Quran 2:155-157) (Kalemah) 'Every soul shall taste death. And you will be given your full reward on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has truly succeeded. The life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of deception.' (3:185) (Kalemah) 'Say: O you who are Jews — if you claim that you are the allies of Allah to the exclusion of other people, then wish for death if you are truthful. But they will never wish for death, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allah is All-Knowing of the wrongdoers. Say: Indeed, the death from which you flee — it will surely meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will tell you about what you used to do.' (62:6-8) (Kalemah) 'Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Kingdom, and He has power over all things — He who created death and life to test you: which of you is best in deeds.' (67:1-2) (Kalemah) This is a lesson for those who take heed, and a reflection for those who reflect.
