Jannat al-Mualla — Sacred Cemetery of Mecca
جَنَّةُ المُعَلَّى — مَقَابِرُ مَكَّة
The ancient cemetery of Mecca, situated north of Masjid al-Haram. Among those buried here are: Syedatona Khadija al-Kubra (AS) — the first wife of the Prophet and first believer; Syedna Abd al-Muttalib — the Prophet's grandfather; Syedna Qasim — the Prophet's son; and other members of the Prophet's family. The Prophet visited Syedatona Khadija's grave regularly and would greet her and pray for her.
Why it Matters
Syedatona Khadija's grave is one of the most beloved ziyarat sites for the Bohra community. She sacrificed all her wealth for Islam and supported the Prophet through the most difficult years of his mission. The Prophet said: 'She believed in me when others denied me, comforted me when others hurt me, gave for the sake of Allah while others withheld.'
